Target Finder

You can use this tool to set an energy target for your design project and compare the estimated energy use to the target. If the property type is eligible, we'll also provide an ENERGY STAR 1-100 score. To get started, tell us more about your design property.

Gross Floor Area (GFA) is the total property floor area, measured from the principal exterior surfaces of the building(s). Do not include parking. Details on what to include.

Weather Station

We could not set the weather station for your property based on your postal code. You can use the "Map It" link to see the weather stations in your country, then select the best one from the drop down list below. NOTE: If your country does not have any weather stations (the drop down list will be empty), you'll need to select a different country with a comparable climate. When you change the Country, you can see the list of weather stations in the drop down and on the map. You can see a map of all weather stations in the Climate and Weather technical reference (page 3).

Property Use Details

In order to provide you with metrics about your design, we need to know how the space in this property will be used. Based on the property type you selected, we are assuming this is how the floor area of this property will be used. If your property has multiple property uses you can add them below in order to correctly classify the square footage of your design property.

You have chosen to delete this type of use from your property. If you continue, any of the information you have provided regarding this type of use will be lost. You can add this use type back by using the drop list for additional types. But, when re-added, it will be blank. Are you sure you want to continue?

If you do not enter values for all of your property's use details then Portfolio Manager will calculate default values on your behalf (based on your gross floor area). Default values cannot be used to apply for ENERGY STAR certification. You may click "Continue" to use default values for any empty values or click "Cancel" to provide your own values.

Estimated Annual Influent Flow for Wastewater (Required)

Please enter the Annual Average Influent flow for your design property below, including all wastewater uses for this property. Portfolio Manager requires this information to generate an ENERGY STAR score.

Estimated Annual Influent Flow for Water Distribution (Required)

Please enter the Annual Average Influent flow for your design property below, including all water distribution uses for this property. Portfolio Manager requires this information to generate an ENERGY STAR score.

Estimated Annual UPS Output Energy Use (Required)

Please enter the UPS Output Energy Use for your design property below, including all data center uses for this property. Portfolio Manager requires this information to generate an ENERGY STAR score.

For the purposes of a design property, other types of IT Energy measurement are not necessary. These include PDU Input, PDU Output and IT Equipment Input.

Estimated Design Energy (Optional)

If you have an estimate of how much energy your design property will use annually, enter it below. The tool will calculate your ENERGY STAR design score (if applicable) and show how your estimated energy use compares to the target and median property. To get the most accurate results, provide estimates for total annual energy for each energy type to be used for operating the building.

Target

You can choose either a Target ENERGY STAR Score or a Target % Better than the Median Source EUI to see how much energy your property would need to be consuming annually to reach your target. If you have estimated your property's annual consumption, you can compare this against your target.

ENERGY STAR Scores are not available for every type of property because of availability of reliable reference information.
This is calculated based on the Median Source EUI for the property. For example, you might like your property to be 20% better than a typical property of the same type.
